On 1st May, Apple released its first batch of "rapid security" patches focusing on fixing vulnerabilities used by threat actors or cyber criminals to compromise the privacy and security of Apple users.
Apple describes in its documents that such "rapid security" updates aimed at iPhone, iPad, and Mac platforms to protect its users against the vulnerabilities between software updates. The "rapid security" patches are for customers having iOS 16.4.1, iPadOS 16.4.1 and macOS 13.3.1, and after the installation it adds an alphabet to the version like iOS 16.4.1 (a), iPadOS 16.4.1 (a) and macOS 13.3.1 (a). Please note that Apple users having older versions wont receive the "rapid security" fix yet, as it would be included with the subsequent software updates.
The objective of Apple to come up with such rapid updates are aimed at spyware manufacturers trying to take over Apple devices since in the past spyware makers considerably exploited a great deal of vulnerabilities that allowed government agencies to steal data from the victims. There hasn't been a clarity as to what is in this version of "rapid security" update as Apple hasn't revealed yet. We will continue to write more as we get to know about the contents of such updates.
